Transflex

An Expansion Joint System For Bridge Decks And Flyovers

Transflex Expansion Joint system consists of moulded steel reinforced rubber modules for smooth transit between two separate bridge decks, absorbing expansion and contraction, translation and rotational movements.

The Transflex range is supplied in modules of a given length and is anchored to both sides of the structural joint. All Transflex models offer the possibility to make special pieces for kerbs, walkways, correction of skewed joint and other contours.
The rubber covers the steel reinforcement that entails a double benefit: the rubber protects the metallic part from corrosion and the steel reinforces the device structure.

Categories Of Transflex Expansion Joint Systems:

New Generation:
  • Transflex TR50 to TR180 (Movement range from 50mm to 180mm)
  • Transflex TR270 to TR380 (Movement range from 270mm to 380mm)
Movement allowed with any skew degree.

Standard Models:
  • Transflex 150 to 1300 (movement range from 38mm to 330mm)
High Movement:
  • Transflex 1600-3200 (movement range from 400mm to 800mm)
  • Transflex 3600-6400 (movement range from 900mm to 1,600mm)
High Movement Seismic:
  • Transflex 1600 s – 3200 s (movement range from 350mm to 720mm)
  • Transflex 3600 s – 6400 s (movement range from 800mm to 1,440mm)

FAQ
  • How does Transflex work?
The standard models of Transflex designed to accommodate movement by shear deformation of the elastomer between the steel components. Each model incorporates steel angles designed to be bolted to the structural deck and a steel bridging plate system which spans the open joint gap.

The high movement Transflex expansion joints have been designed to cover large movements. They consist of two modules, the movement module and the bridging module. The movement module is the ‘mobile’ section of the joint, made of rubber and steel, aimed to accommodate the expected movements. The bridging module is the ‘fixed’ section of the joint, aimed to bridge the structural opening.
  • What is the movement range of Transflex?
    Type Model Movement range, mm
    New Generation Transflex TR50 to TR180 50 to 180
    Transflex TR270 to TR380 270 to 380
    Standard Models Transflex 150 to 1300 38 to 330
    High Movement Transflex 1600-3200 400 to 800
    Transflex 3600-6400 900 to 1,600
    High Movement Seismic Transflex 1600 s – 3200 s 350 to 720
    Transflex 3600 s – 6400 s 800 to 1,440
  • What type of movements can Transflex accommodate to?
Transflex is designed to accommodate expansion, contraction, translation and rotation movement. It also accommodates vertical and seismic movement depending on the models.
  • Does Transflex come in special modules?
All Transflex models offer the possibility to make special pieces for kerbs, walkways, correction of skewed joint and other contours. In this way, the continuity of the seal is ensured.
